About Me

So…Who Is LaJuanda Sherise?

I am a wife, a mother, a daughter, a sister, a lover of persons, a friend, a social activist, an attorney, but most of all, LaJuandaSherise is a woman who has had her share of life’s messes! From those messes, I know my purpoimg_6212se is to encourage women to use my messes as medicine for their own lives.

I grew up with very low self-esteem (although I didn’t know it at the time) because of various reasons: my father wasn’t a constant in my life, I had dark skin, big lips, coarse hair, and I’m a product of a teenage single mother. So, I just knew the deck was stacked against me, no matter what my mother tried to instill in me and my three sisters.

As a result of my low self-worth, I became very rebellious as a teenager and experienced with sex at a young age; thus, I stayed in trouble throughout high school. I didn’t know it at the time, but I had an anger problem that wasn’t dealt with properly.

Throughout my young adult life, I would mask my self-esteem issues with exotic dancing, more sex, surrounding myself with people who abused illegal drugs, and more anger. I put up a wall so no one could sense my vulnerabilities. I did all this while serving my country in the U.S. Army and as a college student! Tell me about living a double life!

In the midst of life’s messes, I still had a gift for seeing my way out by going deep within myself and using the power of God within me to make some changes. But, I was missing one thing: no relationship with God.

Today, I can say with all honesty that had God not had His hands on my life and guiding me even when I didn’t acknowledge Him, I would not be here living my life on purpose according to His purpose. Let me help you do the same.

LaJuanda Sherise received a B.S. in Public Relations and Speech Communications from Jackson State University and a Masters of Public Health (M.P.H.) from the same. She also received her Doctorate of Jurisprudence from Mississippi College School of Law and is a licensed Mississippi attorney. She resides in Jackson, MS with her husband and their three children.
